Off the Floor Night
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
In the hut, the whole night is suspended and off the floor (think the floor is lava style), from flag break to flag down, the kids cannot touch the floor in the main area of the meeting room they are in. Make use of what you have from your own stores and use your imagination. Of course, risk assessments and health & safety are key. If it is your first time doing it, maybe have the kids wear helmets, but if you're confident in your leaders and the number of leaders on hand, then it may not be necessary.
Resources
Rope, spars, rope ladders, cargo nets, benches, etc. Cushioning-like objects (we used the patrol tents in their bags)
Optional: Helmets
Instructions
Either the night before or at least a couple of hours before the meeting, as many leaders as possible (and young leaders), get down to the hut and you create a course adapted to your hall. Get the kids to do simple tasks such as getting fell in, breaking flag, etc. Then do timed runs on the course from one end of the hall to the other, team-based and individual.
