Description
Game for Silence using the Hand Signals
Resources
(none)
Instructions
Introduction
Explain why Leaders need to use the Guide silence sign i.e. a quick way to get their attention when Ladybirds need to change to a different activity or to say something to them without shouting.
Instructions
Select three different animal sounds e.g.
Sheep – Baa Baa
Dog – Woof Woof
Cow – Moo
Explain to the Ladybirds that when the Leader calls out ‘sheep’, the Ladybirds should skip around the room and make the noise of a sheep. When the Leader puts her hand in the air, the Ladybirds must stand very still with their hand in the air too and be as quiet as a mouse.
Repeat this using different animal sounds and, intermittently, putting your hand in the air and waiting for the Ladybirds to be quiet.
Praise the girls at the end of the game for obeying the hand signal by saying ‘well done’.
Debrief
Talk to the Ladybirds about times when it is important to watch and listen.
