Resources

candy canes (enough for each Ladybird)
Christmas stocking or basket for each group to collect their candy canes

Instructions

Aim of Game
To develop group skills by searching for and finding candy canes.

Introduction
The Leader should arrange to hide the candy canes around the meeting room before the Ladybirds arrive.

Instructions
1. Split the Ladybirds into two groups.
2. Give a Christmas stocking to one Ladybird in each group.
3. Explain to the Ladybirds that each group is to search for candy canes that are hiding around the room and place them in their Christmas stocking.
4. The group should aim to retrieve one candy cane for each Ladybird.
5. The Ladybirds should share out the candy canes ensuring that there is one for everyone to bring home at the end of the evening.

Additional activities
Leaders could incorporate a hot and cold scenario i.e. when a Ladybird is getting close to a candy cane, the Leader can call out ‘getting hot, getting hotter’ and when a Ladybird is moving further away from the candy cane, the Leader can call out ‘cold, getting colder’.
