Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) booklet - personal challenge

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

As part of my Cubs Personal Challenge badge I am asking them to perform some random acts of kindness (RAOK or RAK).

This little booklet is designed to help them with this task.

Can easily be adapted for other sections as it doesn't say Cubs on it anywhere.

For Beavers you could leave the inside blank and just get them to do post-it note compliments / kind words.
For Scouts you could remove the easier RAKs from the selection.

The inside page can easily be replaced with one more fitting for what you are asking of your YP or used blank.

Resources

A printer, some paper, scissors or guillotine for leaders and glue sticks and post it notes. Plus enthusiastic willing Cubs.

Instructions

For my Cubs...
Preparation.
I printed off a whole year's calendar of RAKs from https://www.naturalbeachliving.com/random-acts-of-kindness-calendar/ and cut it into individual tasks, removing those I thought were either too hard or inappropriate. There are lots of resources on the www - search for "kindness cards" or "random acts of kindness" or just ask your Cubs for ideas.

I printed one copy of the attached booklet page 1 for each cub and then turned the paper over and put it back into my printer and printed it on the back with page 2. Did a couple of tests first so i got the orientation correct. Anybody lucky enough to have a printer that does double sided printing may need to join the two pages together.

On the night.
Each Cub needs to be given their double-sided booklet and asked to choose some of the RAKs and stick them onto page 2. They then fold their booklet up - fold 1 is across the width fold 2 is lengthwise and finally they write their name on the front and add a quantity of post it notes to the space provided. Hopefully they then take them home and do it!

Follow up.
There is space for up to 12 RAKs on the inside page of the booklet. My Cubs are being challenged to do as many as they can over a term (which is why there are so many) but i don't expect them all to do all 12. When the time is up we will be having an evening where we talk about what they managed to achieve and how these RAKs made them feel.

I have included "do your best" in the badges section as I feel some (though not all) stand a good chance of earning this as well as the personal challenge element.
