As the children arrive get them to read the instructions and follow them without speaking.

Flipchart of large piece of paper A2 or A1 size, marker pens etc.

Instructions

Write on the paper the instructions for the children to follow. Photo attached as an example!
As they arrive, ask them to take off their coats as usual then form a single line with the tallest person at the front and the smallest person at the back, but they must not talk. You can choose one of them to be the person who checks to see if they are right, and arrange for any swaps! It's great for team work and leadership skills.
