Pencil or kebab stick
Kitchen roll drum
Piece of kitchen roll approx 2 inch in length

String - 2 pieces
Sellotape
Felt tips
Pencil or kebab stick
2 circles of thin card to stick over ends of tube
Instructions
Two types of drum - you can choose which to make.
Show the Beavers some drum designs then they need to create a design to show something about themselves to meet the 'imaginative' part of the Creative badge.
Circle drum
Decorate one side of each circle.
Sellotape the pencil onto the undecorated side of one circle (so it looks like a lollypop!).
Tie a bead onto one end of the string and secure it with a second knot so it can't move up the string. Repeat with the other end.
Sellotape the string across the middle of the circle with the pencil on, so the beads stick out on both sides. The length should be so that the beads will hit the card when the pencil is twisted backwards and forwards.
Stick the second circle onto the first circle with the decorated side facing outwards.
Play the drum!
Kitchen roll drum
Push pencil/kebab stick through a hole pre-made at the bottom of the tube. Secure with tape inside.
Tie a bead onto one piece of string and secure it with a second knot so it can't move up the string. Repeat with the other piece of string.
Thread the strings through 2 pre-made holes on either side of the tube. The length should be so that the beads will hit the card when the pencil/kebab stick is twisted backwards and forwards.
Stick the thin card circles over the ends of the tube.
Decorate the outside of the tube.
Play the drum!
