Description

Beavers roll a dice in order to work out which bit of a flag to draw/colour in, and then find out some facts about it.

Quiz at the end to see who remembers the facts.

Resources

Each beaver needs some paper, felt-tip pens and a dice.

Instructions

This is designed to be run over a video conference but could be done in real sessions when life returns to normal.

The overall concept is each beaver rolls their dice at the same time, and then do whatever the dice says. Once everyone has done their drawing/colouring (or after 30s) they roll again and repeat. It's then a race to finish the flag.

They have to roll a 6 before they can start colouring in. Once they roll a 6, they can draw the main lines of the flag in black to get a line drawing of the flag.

Then, depending on what number they roll, they colour in the bits of the flag as appropriate until they've finished it.

1 = red
2 = green
3 = blue
4 = yellow or orange
5 = black

Some suitable flags/countries/facts:

India - 1.2 billion people. Capital is New Delhi. They speak Hindi. Their currency is rupee. Their main religion is Hinduism.

Germany - 83 million people. The name in their spoken language is Deutschland. Capital is Berlin.

France - 67 million people. Capital is Paris. They invented the baguette (although some say Austrians did!)

Italy - 60 million people. Capital is Rome. Ferraris invented there. Pizza invented there.

Jamaica - 3 million people. Capital is Kingston. Reggae music originated here.

Once you've done each flag and have talked about the facts, run a quiz-show:

Ask a question where the answer is one of the countries. The beavers have to hold up the flag they think is the right answer. They each get a point if they get the right answer.
