Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
Finding and learning about the smoke detectors in cubs homes.
Resources
- A portable device to record/show the fire alarm.
- A chair/ladder to reach the fire alarm.
Instructions
1) Cubs are to find the fire alarm in their home. (If they don't have one, they should be instructed to contact their local fire station who will often fit one for free)
2) Cubs should then learn how to test the fire alarm (and test their own).
3) Cubs should be asked where fire alarms should be in the house:
a) top of the stairs is a common place so close to bedrooms, so you can be woken up at night.
b) in kitchen is also common but needs to be a different type of alarm (because adults often burn the dinner)
4) Learn about the different types of alarms (do you have these in your home?)
a) Smoke Alarm: detects smoke, most common and often at top of stairs.
b) Heat Alarm: detects heat not smoke so better for places like the kitchen.
c) Carbon Monoxide: detects when things don't burn properly and cause a dangerous gas CO, should near by fuel burners.
