- three brooks rubbing sheet (file attached)
- pencil / crayon
- compass (you could download a compass app on your adults phone if you don't have one)
- hand sanitiser
- water
Instructions
1. Prepare for the walk. What should you wear and what equipment should you take with you on your walk in the woods? What is the weather going to be like? What is the ground going to be like? How long are you going to be walking?
2. Print off the map and rubbing sheet. As a minimum, pack the print-offs, a pencil or crayon, a compass, water & hand sanitiser.
3. If you can, walk or cycle to the woods from home - the walk is about 45 minutes from Filton Scout hut, I suggest following Concorde Way cycle path as the route is wide and mostly traffic free. Or else drive to the car park at Willow Brook Centre and then cross Bradley Stoke Way to get to the woods.
4. Once in the woods, find North on your compass and orientate your map. Can you work out where you are on the map?
5. Using the map see if you can find at least 10 of the 22 controls. Take photos of each post or using the rubbing sheet and your pencil / crayon collect rubbings of the animals on each post to prove that you found it. Upload a photo of your rubbing sheet or a photo collage to OSM.
I checked 2 weeks ago and all the posts were there, but post number 9 had fallen over.
n.b. Please make sure to maintain 2 metres distance from other people and use hand sanitiser after touching any posts or gates.
