Description

Aim: To develop the skills necessary for independent living later in life.

There are 5 options with activities that the Guides can choose from.

Complete any 4 options to gain a badge. Subsequent badges may be earned when you complete 4 additional options.
Food and clothes

These challenges can be done during meetings or at home. Some of these challenges have been adapted for zoom meetings.

All activities are on the Guide version, independent living skills.

2. Make a game or quiz that helps your Patrol understand the importance of storing food correctly and preparing it safely and hygienically.

3. Explain the meanings of the symbols you find on washing labels in your clothes. Wash and iron an item of clothing. Know why it is important to keep clothes clean and fresh.


6. Understand what services a household needs to function, such as electricity, water, waste collection. Find out how to pay for these and how to call out a service team if you have a problem.

10. Address an envelope and fill out an application form.

12. Send an email to a friend and use a website to find out information that is useful for young people.

Washing symbols activity. Pair of jeans, a school shirt, your favourite T shirt, and a jumper/hoodie + some other clothes, some white and some dark coloured.

Food safety and storage activity: a piece of A4 paper x 2 , a felt pens and ruler. Template of fridge in the document.


Address an envelope and fill out an application form: 1 envelope and stamp, copy of application form.

Access to the internet.
