Resources

You will need
Scissors
Tables
Tokens (you will need 30-40 per person. You could use something like raisins – although if using edible snacks, everyone should wash their hands first)

Instructions

Before you begin
Set up 8 different stations, and leave enough tokens at each station so there can be 5 tokens for each young person
If you have enough leaders, have one at each station. Otherwise leaders may need to be responsible for 2 or 3 stations each
Cut out the different sections of the 'Happiness points calculator' sheet so you have the scoring points for each station.
Some answers won’t match exactly, so the leader will need to think of the closest match and award that number of points.

Token Time
The person leading the activity should explain that there are lots of things that contribute to our wellbeing, health, and happiness.
Each station relates to one part of our wellbeing. Everyone will get tokens based on how healthy they are. Remind everyone to be honest with their answers, and that it isn’t a competition to collect the most tokens.
Everyone should make their way round each station, and answer the question at each one. They’ll be given tokens based on their answer, which they should keep safe.
Once everyone has been to each station, they should find a space to create their own happy face. The healthier their answers, the more tokens they will have created, and the bigger the smile they can create.
If using edible token, use napkins or tablecloths to make the happy faces on (rather than the floor), so that the snacks are still hygienic to eat.
The person leading the activity should explain to the group that while there are lots of different things which contribute to your happiness – some of them are even treats that might not be so healthy – by living a healthy lifestyles you are more likely to feel well and happy. By getting lots of sleep, drinking plenty of water, eating healthily, exercising and laughing lots, you will happier and healthier, which means you can then contribute more to your community if you wish to do so.

Big smile
Everyone should come together to collate all of their tokens together in to one big pile, and as a team, make a huge smiley face on the floor (or a tablecloth for edible tokens)!
The person leading the activity should remind everyone that by working together, having lots of kind people around them and helping each other, they can make even bigger smiles than if they were to stay on their own.
If using edible tokens, share out the snacks to be enjoyed by the group.
