Are you okay?
Introduction
The way a person feels changes all the time! This activity explores how to recognise what people around you are feeling.
Explore different emotions. Practise recognising emotions.
Instructions
1. Form a circle.
2. As a group, talk about different ways you can tell how someone’s feeling. (What if someone couldn’t tell you they were feeling happy? How would you know?)
3. Split into small teams. Leader will give each team a feeling. (see overleaf) Don’t tell anyone else what it is.
4. Now, on your own, move around your space and when the leader shouts ‘Go!’ find someone from another team
5. Play rock, paper, scissors in your pairs until someone wins
6. The winner, must describe their feeling without saying the word. For example, if the feeling is ‘bored’ an example would be ‘there’s nothing to do here’.
7. Your partner will try to guess your emotion. If they get it right, both of your teams get a point!
8. Repeat from no 4 action, choose a new partner, continue playing until a leader indicates.
9. Team with the most points received a “Brownie Well Done”
Additional Activity
10. Play again with a different feeling. This time you can’t talk, so you’ll need to make a paper mask to show your feeling. Once you know you’re feeling, get creating!
