Instructions

Aim: To become more safety conscious at home
1. Show how to use a landline and mobile phone to contact emergency services.
2. Know who your family doctor is and where their surgery is.
3. Identify some dangers around the home. Explain why you think they may be dangerous. Explain how you would eliminate the dangers.
4. Identify how the following could be a danger to young children:
• Plastic bags
• Medicines and pills left within reach
• Scissors/knives/needles/pins
• Chemicals like cleaning fluids and disinfectants
• Matches
5. Know where to find a working torch in your house for use in an emergency and show how to change the batteries in it.
6. Show how to switch on and off an electrical appliance and know why they should be switched off when not in use.
