Aim of Badge
To understand our place in space.
This Badge has 6 options of which 4 must be completed.
Introduction
The Moon orbits the Earth every month, changing from New Moon to a crescent, to 1st Quarter, Full Moon, 3rd Quarter, crescent and back to New Moon.
When the Moon is a crescent to 1st quarter it can be seen in the early evening. This is a good week to start since the Brownies will be able to see the Moon as it is just getting dark or in the afternoon.
The phase of the Moon can be found at https://www.timeanddate.com/moon/phases/
Instructions
Spend the next month getting to know the Moon. Set aside some time each day to look at the Moon. Record your observations in the log provided.
Note: time is 5 min per day for several weeks. This can be given to the Brownies for just one week instead – use the template for week long observing instead.
