Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

A Google Forms based online escape room. Difficulty is pitched for Cubs, but still suitable for Scouts and maybe even some older Beavers.

Based on the excellent 2nd Wellington "Escape from the Scout Hut" activity - see below for link to that (it's also listed in OSM Activities too).

Resources

Cubs will need to be able to get online to complete this challenge on their own (with some support) or in groups.
We suggest that you try out the room first and then you can decide if you need to help them or let them go it alone.

Pen/Pencil and paper
Computer / device with access to internet - per Cub (or per six)
Zoom or conferencing/meeting software - if run remotely and if you are going to guide them online

Instructions

This online escape room (https://tinyurl.com/5thHitchinEscape) is designed for Cubs, and should take 30-50 mins to complete. It's inspired by the excellent 2nd Wellington escape room (https://tinyurl.com/2ndWelEscape) and is based on core Scouting skills and values so should work for groups anywhere in the world.

IMPORTANT - There are several videos in the escape room. To play them and share the sound over Zoom, follow the instructions at https://tinyurl.com/ZoomShareSound

Throughout the activity you will find many codes and puzzles. They won't necessarily be in the right order, and each code will only be used once, so once you've used it you can ignore it.

Tips - either:
1) LEADERS ONLY - We've created a mobile viewable and printable guide with of all the resources and clues (https://tinyurl.com/EscapeRoomLeaderGuide). You may want to download it in advance to help support your young people during the activity.
2) Take screenshots of anything that looks like a clue! This is especially true if you haven;t downloaded the Leaders guide. A pen and paper might also be handy to note down the information and the codes once you solve them.
3) If you don't take screenshots or notes you may need to use the back button to find information from earlier. You might find it helpful to open the escape room in 2 or more tabs, then you can have one on the puzzle you are solving and others with the key information. It's up to you!

We hope you enjoy the escape room - stay safe, and please let us know what you think via the feedback survey!
