- cut out the eyes (parental help may be needed)
- decorate the masks
- measure out elastic and attach to mask (hole-punch and knot or tape)
Once complete - show the colony

Talk:
"If an animal is endangered, this means it is likely to become extinct, which would mean that there are none of that animal on the planet. This could be because the places where they live are being destroyed, or they are being hunted.
However, we can work to change that. Giant pandas were endangered, but they aren’t anymore and that’s because people have been helping to protect them. There are charities which work to help save animals from extinction, such as protecting forests and preventing illegal hunting.
There are animals in the UK that can be considered at risk, like red squirrels, bats, hedgehogs and even beavers! Beavers became extinct in the England in the 16th century because of hunting, but they are now being reintroduced. They are good, because they create great habitats for other wildlife and might help protect humans from flooding."

Quiz:
Go through the quiz
Slide 2 = 4 species - IUCN status in slide notes - quickly run through them
3 rounds with facts about the species

Read through the questions once & talk around them - they can ask questions if they want
Then read them again - this time - beavers hold up their mask if they think it is their animal
Say correct answer after each one
Repeat for each round

Then - 'how could we save them?' - watch video from where it plays
Ask beavers after - what do they think they could do?

RECYCLING
Talk:
Have a few items ready to show
"We should try to recycle or reuse things when we can, as making new things uses up energy and creates waste.
If the materials are not recycled or reused, they end up buried in the ground or as litter and can affect wildlife.
Some materials, like plastic, are not biodegradable, which means they don't break down and disappear."

Race:
Find 5 different items that can be recycled, reused or composted in their house (mix)
Say what they have found - hands up - next = a DIFFERENT item
