Dear Parent

The name Baden-Powell is known throughout the world. He was a man who, in his 83 years, devoted himself to the service of his country and his fellow men in two separate and complete lives; one as a soldier fighting for his country, and the other as a worker for peace through the Scout Movement.

Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell was born 22nd February 1857 and started the Scouting Movement in 1907 when he held the first Scout camp on Brownsea Island. Each year, Scouters across the world celebrate our Founder’s life on or close to his birthday.

This year, as Scouting does not allow us to meet face to face, we are delighted that the 3rd, 6th, 6th, 9th & 23rd Jersey Scout Groups are once again joining together and we are delighted to be joined by 1st Liphook Scout Group (East Hampshire) & 1st Charvil Scout Group, Loddon District, (Berkshire) and holding a virtual celebration. We hope you can join us!

By attending this session, it will go towards many elements of your child’s badgework.

Please wear your Beaver, Cub, Scout, Explorer/Young Leader or Adult uniform with neckerchief, if you have been invested.

11.00 Welcome

11.15 Reflection of Scouting. We are delighted to welcome Rev. Jonny Scott who is the Rector of St Martin Parish Church in Jersey.

11.45 Be A Scout!

We will be singing a couple of traditional campfire songs, and then inviting members to join us with doing some practical Scouting and cook their lunch or dinner! The cooking will be off camera, and will be optional. This could be on a BBQ, open fire, log burner (outside or in your house) or even candle! We appreciate for some this may be difficult (due to constraints at home), but we do hope members will be able to cook something.

Please see below some links to ideas that you can cook at home - Please choose what you like! Maybe Beavers could cook marshmallows and Scouts could look at Stew in a foil!
