Pikelets (outdoor cooking at unit meeting)

Description

Recipe for pikelets for either indoor or outdoor use. Uses milk not milk powder.


Resources

Ingredients:
1 cup standard flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk (or non-dairy milk e.g. soy)
Toppings e.g. golden syrup, jam, nutella

Equipment:
Camp stoves or indoor stove
Frying pan (1 per group)
Mixing bowl (1 per group)
Measuring cups/spoons (1 set per group)
Normal spoons

Instructions

1. Put the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
2. Add egg and milk to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
4. Heat a non-stick frying pan and drop spoonfuls of the mixture from the point of the spoon onto the surface.
5. When bubbles start to burst on the top of the pikelets, turn them over and cook the second side until golden. Place on a plate to cool.
