Description

Team game
Cubs/Scouts put in to teams of between 4 and 6 and then sit on floor single file. Oldest at front and youngest at rear.
Each person then given a car name- All oldest are jaguar, 2nd are escort, 3rd are Nissan juke etc.

Leader running game tells a story which includes car names

When car name called everyone with that name runs down hall, high 5's young leaders (or runs round them if socially distancing) and back to place. If Leader says Garage- everyone runs

Resources

A story involving cars
Young leaders for teams to high 5 or markers for teams to run round.
Story something like-
On my way to scouts tonight I got into my car and looked over at my neighbours brand new JAGUAR. I didn't have time to look properly as I didn't want to be late for scouts. I was driving along and in front of me I spotted skip's blue ESCORT. Because I then knew he would be at the hall to open up I stopped off for petrol at the GARAGE. There was a car in front of me I had always wanted, a gleaming, shiny , because it was just out the car wash, NISSAN JUKE.
You can keep going with your story to make the game last as long as you want but usually 2 turns each and 2 garages are enough to keep everyone happy.

Instructions

Get everyone sitting down in single file either in patrols/sixes or made up teams. If a team has fewer members than others give someone 2 car names so all teams have same chance to get points.
Give everyone their car name- all number 1's JAGUAR all number 2's ESCORTS and so on.
Place young leaders or markers at far end of hall or similar distance if outside. We use Young Leaders to keep them busy and involved.
Leader tells the story and pauses each time a car name is said to allow race to take place. First to run to end of hall, high 5 Y/Ls or run round them and then back and sitting in place gets a point.
If GARAGE called then everyone runs and first team back in place sitting properly gets a point.
Team with most points at the end of game are the winners.
