There are 6 activities in this badge. Activity 1 and 2 are compulsory. Complete any three of the remaining parts 3-6.
Introduction
Activity No. 5. Use the ‘How Compostable Is It?’ chart to find out which items compost quickest.
Instructions
1. Lay out the pictures of the objects on one side and the timelines for decomposition on another.
2. Have the girls together try to match the photo with the timeline. (Depending on the amount of girls that you have you may wish to do this activity as a unit or in Patrols).
3. Check the answers and see how you did.
Debrief
Talk about the answers and how you did. Were there any in particular that surprised you? Discuss how we can dispose of items that have a very long composting time.
