Life Saver/First aid covering Airways, recovery position, CPR and causes of unconsciousness through Mock up Scenarios.


Resources

Spare bodies x3 (or dummies)
Electric power tool or similar with a damaged wire
Tarp or similar to indicate large water area
Throw line and a soft toy
mock-up car or the use of a stationary vehicle
Laptop/Ipad or printed resources

Instructions

4 Bases: 1- Electric shock casualty with metal pole and broom handle (casualty can be led in a marked area indicating water), 2- poisoning (sit down discussion activity with questions from resource pool), 3- fall through ice - Tarp along hall with stuffed toy at end indicating person through ice. Team to use the throw line to reach the casualty (ensure throw over head to allow casualty to grab. Leaders to ensure correct method of throw and method to repack), 4- car accident with 2 casualties (1 unconscious, head on chest, other with mock leg /arm injury who is screaming and wants the attention). Leaders to help guide the team to look at the unconscious casualty for Airways, Breathing before Circulation whilst trying to reassure other.

Split group int 4 teams. Each time has 15 minutes to assess and sort out the casualty situation correctly. Leaders to question, advise and clarify.

Come together at the end and ask each member one thing they had learned/take away from the evening.
