Chairs

Instructions

Everyone should get a chair and place it in a circle facing outwards.
Before the game starts the person leading the game should inform everyone that they will be running in a circle around the chairs. Everyone should be aware of which way to run around the circle so there aren't any accidents.
The person leading the game should tell everyone to sit in their chair.
Each person should be given a name of one of three different fruits (apple, orange or banana).
It is important that there are two or three people with the name of the same fruit.
When everyone is ready to start the person leading the game should call out the name of one of the three fruits.
Each person who was given the name of the fruit that was called out should stand up and run around the outside of the chairs and back to their own seat.
Some people may struggle to remember the name of their fruit, adults should be on hand to remind them when it is their turn to run.

When fruit salad is called everyone should get up and run around the circle and sit back in their own seat.
The last person sat down could be out (make sure you remove their chair) or the person leading the activity can celebrate the first person sat down each time.

Reflection
This game encouraged everyone to be more active when running around the circle and persevere more to see who could get to their seat first.

After playing 'Apple, orange or banana?' ask everyone to think about:

Was it difficult to remember the name of their fruit?
Was it difficult to remember which seat they were sitting in?
