Instructions
Game: North, South, East, West
- Allocate the compass points to sides of the hall/field.
- A leader stands in the middle & shouts a direction, Beavers then run there.
- Make more complex with additional directions e.g. Southwest.
Fire Drill
(The fire drill & meeting point should be explained to all Beavers/new starters at the beginning of the evening.)
- Ring the fire bell & help the Beavers to leave the hall to the meeting point.
- Take a register and once happy, return to the hall.
Code of Conduct
- Have a talk about what a code of conduct is & the types of things that might be included.
- Beavers each have a handprint cut out, they should then draw a picture/s of things that should be in the code of conduct, e.g. being nice to each other.
- The handprints should be collected in at the end to be displayed in the hall e.g. on a washing line, or round a notice board.
Game: Shoe game
- Beavers take off their shoes and put in the middle, all sit in a circle.
- Taking it in turns, they have 30seconds to return as many shoes as possible to the correct owners.
- Encourage engagement for new starters by having a pair in the middle, to create a buddy.
