Instructions
The attached "Countryside-code-summary - Spot 10 errors" has, well you guessed it, 10 errors! Get the children to read through and try to spot all 10, also to write down what they think the proper version says/shows.
Short version - Spot the Difference, give them the original and the error strewn version, they circle/highlight the differences...
Medium version - Make them read and figure out what they think is incorrect. Some are subtle so it's best to get each sixer/patrol leader to call out the number each time the think they've found one; then you have the option to call time on the exercise when a group hit 10, or the "hit rate" slows too much and you think they're in danger of losing interest
Long version - First start a blank version containing just the "Three Points" (respect everyone, protect the environment, enjoy the outdoors) and ask the kids to come up with their own bullet points, then do the "Spot the errors" one as above.
To extend the exercise you can ask how they'd improve the current one, should dogs be kept on a lead, should it suggest taking any litter you find home, could/should the signs be better coloured, or different shapes, etc, etc.
(Please note the attached are A5 so best printed on A4 with two page per sheet)
