Hula Hoop Challenge

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

Meeting based on individual and group activities and games which require each brigin to have their own hula hoop. Good for getting to know their patrol members.

Resources

Hula hoop for each girl guide.
We used same colour for each patrol in the Shark Attach game (so they were only safe 8n their own patrol colour).

Instructions

- who can hula hoop the longest?
- who can skip using their hula hoop?

HULA HOOP HUT
Patrols of six are challenged to build a hut, using and touching their own hula hoop. Once built, they must get their whole team to pass through it. Have each person them go through it backwards.

SHARK ATTACK
Spread a number of hula hoops around the outdoors. These are islands. One girl guide is a shark, the remainder are swimmers. When the leader shouts “shark attack” the swimmers must get into an island before being caught by the shark. We used coloured hoops for each patrol - so they could only get on an island in their own colour (which kept girls in their bubbles). If any swimmers get caught, they become sharks. You can pick up islands and then throw them down again after you shout “shark attack”. This prevents swimmers from circling the hoops.
