Description
Scouting would be even better if....
An idea generation exercise for the YouShape badge. Ask lots of questions. What niggles people, what are the not so good bits to level up, what would make it better, how could it be changed, what can the scouts help? No ideas are bad, let the scouts roam and ask them how they'd know it would be better, get them to imagine what it would feel like.
To make sure that the scouts have a good chance of doing the other parts of the badge they need to have a very specific objective that is easy to measure, and simple to solve. Building a new scout hut is probably out of reach, but fundraising for a new football isn't. Encourage them to aim high, and not to think about the material too much, most of the best ideas will be about ways of being scouts in the current environment.

Instructions
In patrols or small groups introduce the core requirement of the YouShape badge, " Choose one thing you’d like to change, improve or deliver for young people in your Troop or section, and make it happen." This could be learning or teaching a new skill, developing your current talents or interests, or changing something about Scouts.
Give each young person a pencil and some post-its or small pieces of paper. Get them to write down things that annoy them, or that they think could be improved about scouting.
Scouting would be even better if....
Once they've got some things written down encourage them to think of what better would look like. Keep asking questions until they've got something very specific as an objective. Agree that with them, and note it down as both a personal challenge, and as the central requirement for the YouShape badge.
