Young people learn about what makes up our local community and who serves your community such as a police officer, lifeboat crew, a coastguard, fire fighter, youth worker or nurse.
Young people write questions they would ask those who serve our community if and when they visit.
A community helper visits and answers questions.

Community Helper

Instructions

Go through Powerpoint about community and helpers - define community and describe what helpers do and what young people can do.
Write questions for different helpers about what they do.
Helper visitor describes their role in the community.
Young people pose questions they wrote to the helper visitor (this could be in person or remotely).

If a visitor is not forthcoming the questions could be sent to a community helper by letter or email and hopefully they would respond and this could be shared at a later session.
