Description

Beavers must build a long wall out of (Duplo Bricks, Cardboard Boxes, Etc) , then place a Roman solider (Colouring picture + plastic cup) on top of the wall. Explain to your Beavers that they are the Picts from Scotland and are attacking the wall. Using small balls as rocks the Beavers must try and knock the Romans from the wall.

Roman Solider colouring
Colouring pens / crayons
Scissors to cut the pictures out
Plastic cups / beakers
Blue tac to stick the pictures on the cups
Wall building materials (eg. Duplo bricks, cardboard boxes)
Small balls (plastic lightweight are good)

Instructions

We found having your Beavers arrive to the meeting and get stuck into colouring the romans was a great start to the meeting. NOTE: Beavers wanted to do more than one, so make sure you have spares.
Stick the roman pictures onto the cups
Now get the Beavers to build a wall at one end of the hut.
Once built explain to them that they are the attacking Picts and that they are going to through rocks at the romans on the wall. You might want to explain why the wall was build and who by.
We provided each beaver with a single rock at a time to make it last longer and allow them to see which rocks hit.
