Description
Experiment with different "meteors" to see the effect of meteors on the landscape. This could be done by dropping marbles, other balls and different shaped rocks into trays of sand.
Resources
Seed trays / Washing up bowls
Sand (1 bag)
Marbles of different sizes. Bouncy balls. Rocks of different shapes and sizes.
Ruler.
Paper
Pencil.
Instructions
Scouts measure the size of the crater and make notes on a sheet of paper about the shape of the crater when compared to the object.
For example:
Uneven rock - Crater diameter 15cm wide - 4 cm deep - Shape of crater is a valley.
