Description

Cubs work in teams to plan a two course menu for the District Cub Cooking Competition and then create recipe and shopping list by either checking online or by visiting a local supermarket to ensure they remain within the budget for the competition.

Instructions

1. Brief the Cubs on the rules of the competition and the equipment they will be using. (5 minutes)
2. Working individually; cubs draw a picture of the 2 course meal they would most like to cook (10 mins)
3. In sixes; discuss everyones meals and decide together which main course and dessert should be on the final menu (10 mins)
4. Sixes then work togetether to write a basic ingredients list for the menu. (10-15 minutes)
5. Using the internet; make a shopping list with prices and check that the menu meets the budget for the the competition (10-15 minutes). If you have time and a supermarket nearby you could actually visit a shop to do this.
