Easy Maori board game for the girls. I got this game from a Cub Scout leader & teacher.

Resources

Print the attached file, can use 2 sets of 4 counters etc instead of the paper ones. Can laminate to keep.

Instructions

1. Set up the game board with four counters or
Numicon pegs on one side and four of the other
colour on the other side
2. Blue goes first. Move one piece along one of the lines,
either to another point of the star or to the centre.
3. Red moves to the next empty space long one of the
lines
4. If you want to move to the centre, your opponent’s piece
must be beside one of yours on the outside star point.
5. Each player takes a turn trying to block in the other player so
he can’t move.
5. The blue player cannot win in the first move.
6. Pieces may only move one place; no jumping.
7. Play again and swap colours. Blue always goes first.
8. The outside places are kewai or kawai. The centre place is
putahi
