Instructions
1. Choose some famous photographers to tell the Beavers about and show them a photo of each.
We chose Eliot Porter, David Hockney and Henry Dallal and told the Beavers the facts below then showed them a photo (easily found online - I've not uploaded as may be copyright).
Eliot Porter was an American photographer. He’s best known for his colour photographs of nature when most photos were in black and white. He wanted to show the animals colours. Not alive now – lived from 1901-1990. (Show a nature photo.)
David Hockney is famous for making photograph collages as well as being an artist. He took lots of photos and put them together. He is from Bradford and is 86 years old. (Show one of his photograph collages,)
London based photographer Henry Dallal was given his first camera by his father at the age of nine, during an outing in the mountains of Iran, where he was born in 1955. He photographed Queen Elizabeth II many times and other important world leaders. He took the photo on her 96th birthday. (We showed the 96th birthday photo of the Queen with 2 horses.)
2. Give the Beavers a sheet of plain paper and a selection of magazines etc. Ask them to choose 2 or 3 photos that they like then cut them out and stick on their paper. They can write next to them why they like them or discuss in their group.
