Learning to count to ten in Te Reo, using blocks and a number worksheet.


Resources

Wooden blocks or food cans
Numbers 1 to 10 - printed on poster, written in Te Reo with matching number.

Instructions

Pippins each have a number worksheet, which has numbers written 1 to 10 and the corresponding number word in Te Reo.

Pippins cut the Te Reo word/numbers into individual sqaures.

Place poster with numbers and matching word in Te Reo in centre of hall on floor, so Pippins can refer back to it.

Around hall place wooden blocks, food cans or similar items into groups of 1 to 10. 1 block in first group, up to 10 blocks in last group.

Pippins search out the pile of blocks that match the word numbers in Te Reo on their paper squares. Place each number in front of group of items.

Once this is completed, each Pippin claims a number. Stands by it and teaches the other Pippin how to say the number in Te Reo
