Voting is a method for a group such as a meeting or an electorate ,in order to make a collective decision or express an opinion usually following discussions ,debates or campaigns (general elections, referendums, and local bossy elections ) in Democratic countries. ( sources Wikipedia Aug 2022)

Also large corporations and all charities have elected committees or boards . Schools in NZ have elected boards of trustees .

Why do we Vote.
By voting Citizens are participating in democratic system and having their say. We vote for parties or representatives based on what they tell us about their position and ideas . Theses people are elected to represent what we think or ask for.

In Nz it’s a requirement that we are on the electoral roll from 18yrs old but not compulsory to vote.

Further information can be found on the electoral commission websites for additional in formation on MMP and voting systems.
