Excercise for existing Scouts to test their memory and work with new recruits to learn the seven Scout Laws
Resources
Resources Needed: Printouts of attached sheet (1 copy serves 2 Patrols or Teams), scissors to cut into words
Instructions
1. Print the attached document 'Scout Law Words.PDF' single sided. 1 Sheet = words needed for 2 x Patrols. Seperate sheet in half then cut out each word in each half and mix.
2. Split into Patrols or Teams
3. Ask / remind how many Scout laws there are and issue each Patrol with the jumbled list of words from the Scout laws and ask to assemble into the seven Scout Laws. Start a timer to see which team completes the quickest.
4. Issue clues depending on progress / capability.
- Inform that each one starts with 'A Scout'
- Word Count for each law
- Third letter of each law
Cryptic clues
Law 1 clue: If I ask you to do something you would be...
Law 2 clue: Attending every week is an example of this
Law 3 clue: Smiling and thinking of others in what you do
Law 4 clue: There are 31 million across the World, you are part of it
Law 5 clue: In difficult situations you would need this
Law 6 clue: You might not get long to use something, how you do matters
Law 7 clue: How you look after yourself and what you think of others actions or words
5. Build out activity if a Patrol(s) complete quicker than expected is to think of at least one example for each law of something they have done recently that would demonstrate keeping each Scout law.

A Scout is friendly and considerate.
A Scout belongs to the world-wide family of Scouts.
A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
