Instructions

Cubs sit in a circle and are told a vegetable that they are for the game. Give the vegetables in this order so that each veg is spread out from the others with the same veg.
Peas, Potatoes, Carrots, Onions, Sprouts & Beetroot.
The leader reads the story and when they mention a vegetable, those cubs with that name stand up and run around the circle back to their place.
When the leader says "Vegetable patch" all the cubs run around the circle.

The Story
In my garden I grow lots of vegetables, for example I grow peas, I have to put sticks in the ground for them to grow up. Next to them are potatoes, you have to move the soil up around the plants to help them grow. Next to them are sprouts, which are my favourite vegetable in the vegetable patch.
Next to my greenhouse I have beetroot that I like with my salad in the summer. Then there are onions, they make me cry when I cut them up for cooking. I always grow carrots and you have to take some out to allow the others to grow. I have lots of other vegetables in my vegetable patch like sweetcorn, and cabbages they are next to the sprouts and the peas. Every evening in the summer I have to water the vegetable patch it takes me half an hour, carrying watering cans up and down my garden. The carrots and the beetroot are furthest away at the end of my garden but the easiest are the onions and potatoes, they are closest to my tap.
On a Sunday I pick the most vegetables for a roast dinner, I pull up some carrots, pick some lovely sprouts, pull up some potatoes and an onion and pick some peas. I also pick some beetroot to cook for a nice salad later in the week So I never buy any vegetables when I can grow my own in my vegetable patch.

You can extend the story by talking about what colours they are etc.
