Description

In this activity the scouts will learn how to knit a useful kitchen item, dishcloth. This will be done along side other regular activities as concentration levels vary. This may take several weeks of 20-30 minutes each session

For scouts with sensory sensitivities this active can be good to quieten the group. We have also done this activity on camps

Resources

Knitting needles (Chunkier the better for beginners)
Cotton dish cloth yarn (1 ball per scout)

Instructions

Simple videos can be found on YouTube on how to knit, we also asked any parent helpers and leader who are able to knit to join in with session to support the scouts.
This activity can be frustrating at times but also enjoyable so we tend to run this as a smaller activity over a period of weeks.
