Description

A team game the aim of which is to get each team to work out the True and False facts about Robert Burns.

This can be adapted to any topic, person, etc.
e.g. Easter, Christmas, Olympics, etc.

You can just enjoy the game or, if you have time, discuss which are True/False at the end of the whole game if you have more time

Resources

A couple of printouts
Tables to work at and chairs to hold the facts help, but are not necessary

Instructions

On the attachment there are 18 "facts" per subject, split into 9 true and 9 false.
Each separate sheet is 1 single subject, each team will work with 1 subject per round of the game.
The subjects for Robert Burns/Burns Night are:
1. Facts about Burns
2. Haggis facts/ingredients and Burns Supper food
3. Poems and Song titles by Robert Burns (since I couldn't remember which were actual and my "made up" titles, I added a full stop "." at the end of each false one, kids didn't notice)

There are also 3 sheets to allow the players to group their "facts" under True or False.
In this version you can run 3 rounds to allow each team to complete each subject.

Printout the facts and True/False sheets
Cut out the Facts so they are all on separate bits of paper

Each team at a table at one end of the hall and the facts on a chair at the other - each subject is kept together. so a team is only dealing with one subject per round.
Relay race to retrieve 1 fact at a time (make them hop/skip/jump to slow them down)
Team decides whether each fact is True/False and places on the sheet appropriately
Once all facts have been retrieved and placed and the team are happy with their True/False placings team sits down to indicate they are finished

Count all errors, i.e. a true fact in the False group = 1, a false fact in the True group = 1
Keep total per team for each round
Replace all the facts back onto the chairs and move teams to a new subject
Winners have the lowest total number of errors

The sheets can be amended to use different subjects and higher number of subjects or facts to make each round longer.
18 facts per round for 3 rounds took 20-25 minutes
