Instructions

Before you begin
Read the story of the 3 little pigs getting the children to join in with the huffing and puffing or maybe acting it out with children playing the parts!

Talk about last week and how you built a strong bridge. Children to talk about what made their bridges strong. Show them the Percy Pigs. Today we are going to build a house for Percy Pig! Please do not eat him! You will all have a Percy Pig of your own and you are going to build a strong house that the wolf would not be able to knock down. You can combine with other squirrels and build a bigger house for more than one pig if you like.

Building Houses
Children divide into nests and then within their nests they can work on their own or in twos or threes to build their house. An adult supports each nest.

The person leading the activity should make sure there is enough duplo for each group to build their houses.

They can get creative and choose how to build it either with card taped across as a roof or using a duplo roof.

When they are finished the adult with the nest to take the children round to see how other children have built their house. Everyone to look at each others work and say something positive about all the different houses.

Children to return to their own structures and then they can break down the houses and eat their Percy Pigs!
