Description

Scouts move from location to location collecting individual words to make up a full message. Can be run individually, or in teams with radios.

Resources

Clue sheets
2-way radios (for team version)
Pens and paper

Instructions

Each player/team has to construct a message, so you need at least as many messages as there are players.
Each clue sheet is labelled with a colour and a grid of squares (A1, A2, B1, B2, etc).
At least one square in the game is labelled "<END>" and at least one is "<ERROR>"
Write each message, one word at a time, onto the clue sheets. With each word, include details of where to find the next word. For example "GOATS - Green C3" to indicate that the word is GOATS and the next word can be found on the green clue sheet in grid square C3. The last word points to the clue sheet where you have written <END>
Once all the messages are in, fill the blank squares with random words; all of them link to the square labelled <ERROR>

For the 2-way-radio version, alternate message words between two locations (we have used indoors and outdoors), so that the group in one location get the word and then need to communicate the link to the next word to the other group using the radio.

At the beginning of the game, the leaders give a start position to each team. This is the link to the first word in their message.
