Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
Aim: To teach children that first aid is about helping everyone and might be a little as getting someone a drink of water or calling for help.
Outcome: The children will gain an understanding of what to find in a first aid kit and learn some easy first aid techniques.
Resources
Copies of first aid colouring pages
A first aid kit
Selection of plasters
Slings, etc.
A first aid certificate to present to the girls at the end
Instructions
If you have a good knowledge of First Aid, you can complete this section yourself or you could invite a parent or a local nurse to come to your meeting to demonstrate some techniques with the girls.
Please note you don’t need First Aid experience or certification to complete the Ladybird First Aid badge because the most important part is making the girls aware of what 1st Aid is, of the importance of keeping themselves safe, knowing what is safe and unsafe and eliminating any risks.
Samples of techniques suitable include;
• The recovery position (always fun)
• Using their neckerchief to make a sling
• Putting on bandages on arms, legs and head
• Cleaning grazes and putting on plasters
