Knots and Lashings

Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK

Description

Scouts taught how to tie 6 knots and 3 lashings and then they have to demonstrate they can tie each knot and lashing they are taught.

We done this outside as there was more room and it meant that the poles would not damage the hall floor but it could be done inside if you prefer or weather is not suitable.

Resources

1 rope for every Scout taking part and 1 rope for every leader demonstrating.
2 poles for every scout doing lashings
1 pole for every Scout doing clove hitch
1 print out of the knot + lashing instruction document attached - I recommend you print this document and laminate each sheet as it means they can be reused and will protect them from any showers.
3 sheets (1 for each leader) containing a table with all scouts' names down the side and name of knots and lashing across the top. This is used to record a Scouts' progress.

- You could also demonstrate the knots and lashings by showing an online video - https://www.animatedknots.com/

Instructions
