Instructions

Witch and Warlock Tag: The witch is "it," while the warlock has the power to bring tagged players back into the game. A pool noodle serves as a wand/soft tag.

Young people start off in a scattered formation.

One young person will be the witch and is given a long pool noodle (their broom) and a short pool noodle (their wand).

Another young person will be the wizard and is given a short pool noodle (their wand) that is a different colour than the witch’s wand.

On the leader’s signal, young people begin to run around the playing area, attempting to avoid being tagged by the witch (who uses the wand to softly tag others).

If a young person is tagged, they lose all of their bones and turn into a blob (they plop on the floor). The wizard turns blobs back into runners by tapping them three times with the wizard’s wand.

The witch may not tag the wizard.

After a pre-determined amount of time, the leader selects a new witch and wizard


Wolf, Monster, or Mummy Tag: This version is good for big groups. Each player is designated a wolf, monster, or mummy, and when their group is called, they must run across the room or yard without getting tagged—or they'll be sent to the graveyard.

1. Ask for two volunteers to be “it”. Then, ask the remaining players to stand in a line on one side of the room.

2. Go down the row and evenly assign each person to be a wolf, monster, or mummy. Once everyone has been assigned, explain the game.

3. The people who are “it” must decide and call out one group (either wolf, monster, or mummy). The group that was called must run to the other side of the room without being tagged. If a person runs to the other side of the room without being tagged, then that person remains in the game. If a person is tagged, the person sits down and becomes part of the “graveyard”. The people in the “graveyard” can tag others running, but only while sitting down cross-crossed. Groups are called out one at a time, and can be from either side of the room.

4. The game continues until all but two people are eliminated. The last people standing wins the game and become the next people who are “it”.

Zombie Tag: If you are in a hall with an expansive smooth floor, you can play zombie tag, where the zombies chase the other players, but with a catch—they must drag a hoola hoop on their foot. Instructions here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AixcRsEXHNw
