Description
Beavers make a small sponge pudding. Explain that uses very simple and plain ingredients. During the war, it was hard to get hold of certain foods and people were limited in what they were allowed to buy each week, particularly sugar, fat, meats. Explain rationing.
Resources
Per Beaver:
- small metal pudding tim
- 25g soft brown sugar
- 25g butter (softened) or margarine
- 1/2 an egg
- 50g plain flour (sifted)
- 1/4 tsp baking powder (mixed into flour)
- 1tbsp semi skimmed milk
- small plastic mixing bowl
- plastic spoon
- sheet kitchen roll
- margarine to grease tin
- cardboard bowl or plastic bag to take home in?
Also need mini oven, shelves, oven gloves
Instructions
1) grease pudding tin
In mixing bowl:
2) mix sugar and buitre til soft and gooey
3) add egg and mix in
4) add flour & baking powder and mix in
5) add milk and mix in
6) put into tin
7) cook 15-20 mins in oven at 180 degrees C
(10 mins to make if everything pre-prepped, 14-20 mins to cook.)
