Description

Draw some storyboards to get the Beavers' creative juices flowing.

Resources

Paper
Pencils/pencil crayons

Instructions

1. Ask the beavers to fold their sheet of paper, halfway along the short edge and in thirds along the long edge, so they have six decent sized rectangles to draw in.
2. They should number these 1 to 6 in an order that makes sense to them, so that they know where to draw each section of their story.
3. A leader should explain to the Beavers how people who write stories and film scripts will sometimes draw out their ideas to help them plan out a story and quickly explain it to people they work with. Beavers should then have a think about the type of story they want to write - is it a science fiction story, set in the future? Is it an adventure story involving battling monsters? Is it a story about animals/friendships/families etc.
4. They should also think a bit about the beginning, middle and end of their story. Where do their characters start off, what excitement happens to them and where do they end up?
5. They should then try to draw six panels of key moments in their story, so that people can understand a bit of the plot just by looking. They should also colour in their storyboards, so they can imagine how it would look in a film. If they finish quickly, they can also explain their story to an adult or young leader.
6. If they want to write some notes about the plot, or part of a script on the back of their piece of paper they can!
