Description

Making Christmas wreaths using recycled, foraged or unconventional materials.

Resources

Recycled, foraged and budget friendly materials: string, old baubles, pinecones, ribbon, long bendy twigs, paperclips, evergreen trimmings (trimmed responsibly) or fake foliage. Structural support/framework, i.e. florist wire/wreath ring/embroidery hoop.

Instructions

Begin with the frame.
If you're using an embroidery hoop or wreath ring, your frame is ready.
If you're using florist wire, carefully shape it into a circle, ideally going around two or three times, and neatly tucking/wrapping the ends so they're not poking out.
Next, grab your long bendy twigs you foraged. Secure the stems of the twigs with string or wire, and then twist and wrap the twigs around and through the frame. These twigs will provide lots of places to stick our foliage and decorations into. Try to hide any securing material at the back of the wreath.
The next step is foliage. Weave the stems of the foliage through and around the twigs and the frame. If needed, secure with string or wire.
Once the frame, twigs and foliage are secure, you can begin decorating! Start adding bows made of ribbon and string, beads, pinecones, berries, dried flowers and any other decorations you want. Secure them with paperclips or string or wire and hide the securing material at the back.
The last thing to do is make sure it can be hung. Attach a loop of strong string to the frame of the wreath, at the top of the back of it.
And your wreath is complete!
