Description

Based on a traditional Scouting game from "Scouting for Boys" by Robert Baden-Powell.
Updated for the modern day and to make it inclusive for any age (where the majority of the group can read):

Resources

Fake noticeboard (see attachments).

Instructions

Either cut out the fake notices and pin them to a noticeboard, or just use it as a worksheet. The original 1908 game was:
"Scouts are ordered to run to a certain hoarding [noticeboard] where an umpire is already posted to time them. They are each allowed to look at this for one minute-of course no notes may be taken in writing-and must then run back to headquarters and report to the instructor all that was on the hoarding in the way of advertisements."

Beavers:
Set up 2 tables/bases. Ask the Beavers a question at one (see page 2 for ideas) and have the noticeboard at the other. You can simplify the question if you want, so it's a specific part of the answer (e.g. "what is the local electrician's name?). You can send them with support or a pen and paper to adjust for difficulty. You can let them keep the noticeboard in front of them at all times if they're really struggling. Those who can't read can still help decide which information is useful and relevant, as part of a team or pair.

Cubs:
Ask the Cubs a question and have the noticeboard on the other side of the room. Get them to take turns coming back in pairs etc to give an answer. Make easier using above Beavers methods if needed.

Scouts+:
Play more like the original game. Ask them to write out everything they can remember after studying it for one minute. See who can remember the most. You can even get them to recreate it with the correct positions/colours etc if they want a challenge.
