Instructions

COLOUR KNOCKOUT – LAST PERSON STANDING – 15mins
Explain to Scouts about sign colours
• Blue safety signs are mandatory signs that must be followed
• Red - Prohibition sign - In psychology, red is a dangerous colour and usually means you should stop doing something
• Yellow – Warning sign. Shows a specific danger
• Green - Safety signs that are green are either first aid signs or emergency escapes. Green means GO!
Put something blue, yellow, green and red on each side of the hall. Shout out a sign (See page 2-5) and get the scouts to run to the colour they think it is.
Any scouts that go to the wrong colour are out. If down to only a few the last scout to the colour is out. Winner is last Scout standing.

HAZARDOUS CHARADES – 15mins
One sheet of the pictures (without writing) is given to each troop. – Page 2 x 4 Sheets
Leaders call up one volunteer from each troop and tell them to act out one of the six hazards. Each troop then decides on what it is. Each correct answer earns a “Point”. Page 3 x 1 Sheet

--------------------------Split into 2 groups-------------------------------
30mins then rotate.
Group 1: Fetch in some tools/power tools and PPE – Get the scouts to handle them and ask them what kind of PPE they think should be used.
Group 1: Show the scouts the kitchen sinks and explain how to unblock them – Chemicals/plunger/ U-bend. Can undo the U bend if you fancy.
Group 2: Change a plug – Fetch in some plugs, wires, screwdrivers and change a plug
Finally before flag drop ask the Scouts to get their parents to show them how to turn off mains supplies to their house(WATER, GAS and Electricity). Then get the parents to let us know and we can tick it off.
