Description
The scouts will look at the different things that can make a person stressed and things to do to reduce/relieve stress.
They will be introduced to the subject of Mindfulness and what different activities could be classed as mindful activities.

Starter Discussion:
What is mental health?
What do they understand.
POST IT ACTIVITY
If you have two different coloured post it notes, use one colour for activity 1 and one colour for activity 2.
1. What causes you stress? Ask the Scouts to write down all of the different things that they feel causes them stress and stick them on a wall/board.
2. What techniques do you use to calm down or make yourself feel good. Again, ask the Scouts to write these on a Post It note and stick them in a separate area on the wall or a different board.
Then ask the Scouts - which question has the most post it notes? Why? You should find that they have more for activity 1 then activity 2.
Introduce the concept of mindful ness. 5 minute video.

MINDFULNESS ACTIVITIES
1. HAMA BEADS - make a coaster or key ring.
2. COLOURING IN - colouring books
3. MAKE STRESS BALLS - see attached PDF from scouts.org.uk.
Physical Activity - finish off with an active game for 20 mins. Then ask how the scouts feel after that.
