Description

Scouts are blindfolded, driven to a mystery location and dropped off. Have to navigate back to base, or back to HQ
Usually they are given an utterly ridiculous backstory/mission briefing and perhaps a mission to complete, or some unreasonably delicate cargo to protect on the way back to base.

Clear pre-hike briefing about 'what if' scenarios
Emergency cards with destination address and leaders contact details
Maps, compasses
Mobile phones not always needed, but if given should be sealed up and used only for emergencies. (But on and with ringer on loud in case leaders need to call in)
Headtorches
Warm and waterproof clothing
Drink/snack, suitable to hike length
Small first aid kit

Instructions

Checkpoint them. Don't panic.
Add a 'hike' credit only if the walk overall feels suitably challenging.
